Major Project: Necromancer

Some initial research and thumbs designing a look for Necromancers.

As with the Abhorsen design, I like inject an asymmetrical element into the design - it adds to the foreign and curious nature of the Old Kingdom inhabitants. So I experiments with top/bottom heavy designs, and exaggerated armour.

Major Project: Clayr's Glacier, Colours and Shapes

A few larger experiments with designing the Clayr's home.

Major Project: Clayr's Glacier

Departing from the Abhorsen for a bit, I decided to look at creating the home of the Clayr, the Glacier. After some brief research I sketched out some thumbnails.

I then look at some of Daniel Dociou's work for Guildwars 2, and began to incorporate some more architecture into my thinking.

Major Project: Approaching the Final Abhorsen

After some more colour tests, I feel like I'm reach a final incarnation - in the design on the left. It looks both authoritative yet "good".

Major Project: Smoking Heads

Another experiment with Maya Fluids, trying to create a head that looks somewhat ethereal. A lesson learned from this is that it next I will use pre-rendered 2D planes of smoke fluid - generating them in the scene takes too much processing power.

Major Project: Abhorsen, the Cape

I've decided that hooded look is the way to go with the Abhorsen, it evokes mystery, forbidden knowledge and intimidation. The sketch on the right is nearing a finalised result I feel - it looks capable, commanding, and experienced.
